Establishing DAVTIAN
In 2011, David established the DAVTIAN brand in the Dominican Republic.
His objective was to create an independent premium cigar house built on carefully selected tobacco, traditional handmade production, disciplined quality control and distinguished presentation.
DAVTIAN was subsequently introduced into European and Asian markets before expanding its presence in the United States, Canada and additional international territories.
The brand’s development reflects David’s central philosophy: sustainable reputation is created through quality, consistency and long-term relationships—not through uncontrolled volume.
From Business to Tobacco
With an academic background that includes a PhD in Economics, David brought a disciplined commercial perspective to the cigar industry.
He entered the cigar business professionally in 2003 as a retailer and international distributor. Determined to understand the product beyond sales and marketing, he spent years studying tobacco cultivation, fermentation, blending, production and international distribution.
His experience included extensive time in the Dominican Republic and professional exposure to the cigar traditions of Nicaragua, Cuba, Honduras and other important tobacco markets.
Building Cigar Culture
David’s work has extended beyond the manufacturing and distribution of cigars.
He founded the Aristocrat International Cigar Club and has supported the development of cigar communities, tastings, educational events and international business relationships.
He has also served in leadership roles connected with Armenian cigar culture and has actively promoted appreciation for premium handmade cigars.
As founder of Cigar Prof, David advises entrepreneurs and established businesses on private-label cigar development, production, packaging, cigar lounge concepts and broader cigar-business strategy.
Community and Philanthropy
Throughout his career, David has initiated and supported charitable events and community programs.
His activities have included sponsorship of cultural and social initiatives and the organization of a Support Our Troops action in 2007.
For David, business leadership carries a responsibility to contribute, connect people and support meaningful causes.

Private Labels
The quality of the tobacco used is important, but sourcing the best quality tobacco is not the only thing we focus on. The cigar-making process is a key factor in achieving the highest quality of a specific cigar. If it is under-filled, it will draw easily but burn too quickly, and feel hot and harsh, if it is over-filled it will be difficult to draw on. Finding the perfect combination, and achieving it time after time is what makes a brand stand out from the rest. That’s why our mantra at DAVTIAN Cigars is “Quality over Quantity” and we do not believe in mass producing cigars.
